This is the Hispanic tradition of presenting a baptized child, usually at age three, to the church. This is rooted in the Judeo-Christian tradition of presenting a child to God during infancy as an act of blessing and consecration.

At Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, this ceremony of Presentacion is held during Spanish Sunday Masses. The parents bring the child up to the altar for blessing by the priest during the Offertory. The priest usually lays his hands on the child, lifts him or her up at the altar as a sign of consecration to God, and then presents the child to the community. The assembly usually affirms the presentation of the child with a big applause.
